Eyvazova, Ziyafet, The Transition Progress from the Latin Alphabet to Kyril Alphabet and vice-versa in Azerbaijan Pres, Doctorate Thesis, Advisor: Prof.Dr. Saadettin Gömeç, 366 p The issue of Azerbaijan Pres in the transition progress from Latin alphabet to Cyril and from Cyril to Latin alphabet, which has not been yet examined thoroughly in the study, is hereby considered every respect. Azerbaijan Turks who have changed its three alphabets in a century encountered difficulties in the transition progress from Latin to Cyril and from Cyril to Latin alphabet. The aim of this study is to make a close-up evaluation of the mentioned period by showing light on the role of the Azerbaijan press in this process that has only been examined in a general outline until today. The main objective of this study is to determine the alphabet problem in Azerbaijan, to evaluate the transition process from the Latin to Cyril, from Cyril to Latin and in this transition process to investigate the activities on the information obtained from Azerbaijan press. In parallel to all this, the transition from Latin to Cyril, Cyril to Latin and the issue of shared alphabet in Turkish world have been shortly examined. In this study state and parliament archives between 1939-40, 1991-92 and magazines and newspapers published in Azerbaijan between 1939, 1940, 1957, 1958, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004 have all been taken as the main sources and all scanned. These newspapers, with respect to their objectives, language characteristics and activities, have been assessed. The conclusion of the study may be summarized as that, the Azerbaijan pres that has accelerated within the transition process of the alphabet at the beginning of the 20th century, within a turbulent place and period of political, social and cultural developments and has become a figure affected by this change, but also it has been an effective and accelerated figure in the transition process.
