Interior decoration which have found wide application areas in Turkish art, has great importance especially in all period of Ottoman Art in terms of religious and civil architecture. Interior decorations apply by techniques such as; stucco, wood, stone-marble, leather-cloth and malakâri. In the 16. th century which known as the classical period, interior decoration especially can be seen on the walls, ceilings and domes of mosques. Interior decorations that belong to this era, was used like motifs such as rûmi, hatayû, penç, rosebud, leaf, cloud those from the classical style. Unfortunately, due to the amiss the restorations, many of these interior decorations which were made in the classical period, have not been reached to the present. After the classical period, Western style such as barocco, rococo, empire which effected to our decoration, has caused a new concept in our interior decoration. and interior decoration was changed into a kind of mural painting in 19. th century. In this period, C, S bends, western motives and the flower decorations in the naturalist style took the place of the classical motives and the scene paintings began to appear between barocco motives on the walls and ceilings. This period, in which the western styles were effective successively, the style components those were belong to the different styles usually were used simultaneously in the same work of art. As the national movements were accured, in late era of 19. th century, the western style of interior decorations has turned into the consept that called neo-classic traditional interior decorations.
